(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 06, 2013 ) Las Vegas, NV -- A team of commercial photographers have come together to explore how photos may be used as a tool to aid patients suffering with chronic memory loss to hold on to some memories for a longer period of time - having access to constant points of reference - in the form of photos of family, friends and events.
“When you take a photograph, you are pretty much creating a record of a time, place, event, person, etc.” said a group spokesman. “So it occurred to us that as you record these images - that are for posterity (so to speak) - these images may be employed in a passive manner to assist patients with failing memories to be able to enhance their recognition of faces, places & things.”
“We believe that by having family photographs placed all around a patient (but in a non-intrusive fashion) that the patient will be less likely to deal with shock and lack of recognition when the various family members stop in for a visit. Having the constant reference point should keep the faces in the photos floating around in the back of the person’s head - very similar to the subliminal messaging that was once commonplace in commercial marketing & advertising.”
