(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 02, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- There is a common misconception in today's society that states that men age better than their female counterparts. However, it appears that sentiment may be a thing of the past, as researchers carried out a detailed study on the perception of again.
The work revealed that women think they age better than men, while it appears men seem to be agreeing more than ever. The study noted nearly 665 of females stated they were aging better than their partner, while 59% of men stated the same thing.
Over half of the men believed they aged faster than their partners, according to a poll that took opinions from 2,000 men and women.
The men stated that they start to “look old” at 44, while the women cited 46 being the age they state as being “over the hill”.
The study was conducted by Forever Youth Liberator by YSL in the United Kingdom, and found that 66% of girlfriends and wives believe they look better than their men. Nearly one in 10 believed there was a rivalry between themselves and their partner for who had the better appearance.
"We wanted to discover the age at which men and women most widely consider to be the point of aging," Amandine Ohayon, spokesperson for YSL Forever Youth Liberator, said.
"There has always been an assumption that women are more susceptible to age faster than men, but this research shows that this stereotype is changing. Women have always been much more aware of the aging process, and as a result this may mean they are making provisions that men aren't.”
He also noted that: "Females have had it drummed into them about the effects that things like smoking, sun exposure and a bad diet can have on their skin and overall appearance, so perhaps women are taking action to fight the signs of aging."
