Berries Proving a Key to Female Health reports Cloruro De Magnesio

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 02, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- According to a new study that has been published in Circulation, one of the most delicious ways a woman can reduce her own risk of heart attack through consumption is by eating blueberries and/or strawberries.

Both young and middle-aged women who eat three servings of either berry per week were noted as having a reduced risk of heart attack. The risk was actually lowered by a full 33% according to the test.

Both types of berry are said to contain high levels of naturally occurring compounds that are called flavonoids, which are found in items like grapes, blackberries, eggplant, and other vegetables.

However, there is a specific type of sub-class of the compounds which is called anthocyanins, which may assist in dilate arteries, as well as counter the buildup of plaque, while providing cardiovascular benefits, according to the study.

"Blueberries and strawberries can easily be incorporated into what women eat every week," says Eric Rimm, senior author and professor at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston. "This simple dietary change could have a significant impact on prevention efforts.”

According to Harvard researchers, who were joined by scientists from the U.K.'s University of East Anglia, surveyed 93,600 women who respective ages spanned 25-42 years, who registered with a Nurses Health Study. The women completed questionnaires regarding their general diets every four years for a total of 18 years.

A separate study had noted that women who eat a higher volume of blueberries and strawberries consistently experienced slower mental decline that accompanies aging when compared to women of their age who did not consume as many flavonoid-rich foods. That study was published in the Annals of Neurology.
