(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 03, 2013 ) Auburn Hills, MI - Pre-season games for the Birmingham Hills Youth Basketball League are hard to come by at this time of year since the National Basketball Association (NBA) schedule is in full swing. The volunteer coaches of the youth leagues usually are left with their own resources and contacts to arrange pre-season matches.
For the 2012 season, Team Celtics, has an experienced coach with some unique and unorthodox training methods. “Our new coach chose a pre-season level of competition that would give the team some tough challenges,” said Gabe Nazelli. “None of the kids thought it was a good idea. But, after looking back on the overall pre-season program, we were happy and surprised at our progress.”
Under an agreement with the NBA and the Professional Basketball Players Union (PBPU), the results and scores of any match are not allowed to be published nor mentioned in any context of Team Celtics’ promotional material. Sources close to the agreement stated that, “Due to the lopsided scores of the matches, the professional players have a lot of ‘Street Cred’ to protect.”
The Birmingham Hills Youth Basketball season begins Sunday, January 13, 2012 at the Detroit Country Day campus. The matchups will be announced earlier the preceding week with times and court assignments.
Each player has 12 complimentary Seasonal Passes for family members and friends.
