(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 06, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- It is a rather well-known fact that American, as a whole, are too fat and too stressed. What is worse, American citizens are reminded constantly that they are too big for their britches. Perhaps ingredients like kale, celery, lemon, and cucumber churned together into a fresh juice can be delivered straight to the doorsteps in order to fight the obesity epidemic. That is the premise of Urban Remedy, a 'meal and juice delivery service that was recently launched nationally.
The company comes from San Francisco, and is founded by Neka Pasquale, a former acupuncturist who looks the part one would hope to be after being on the Urban Remedy regimen. Her glowing skin, soft and glossy hair, and slim and well-kept physique is the paragon of ageless aging.
With over a decade in acupuncture, conducting yoga workshops, and utilizing her own knowledge as a certified traditional Chinese nutritionist into juices for her friends and acquaintances.
“It takes a lot of time and energy to go shopping and make healthy foods,” says Pasquale. “The name is Urban Remedy because [one of our target markets] is someone who has a fast-paced urban lifestyle, someone who works a lot of hours and doesn’t have time to make themselves a healthy meal.”
Her clientèle base has been nearly exclusively “women who are health and exercise conscious.” Yet, the national expansion will take the company beyond the yoga and head straight beyond to the more fundamental ailments that plague the current American public.
Pasquale's company has caught the eye of LA-based accelerator Science Inc. The accelerator is operating shareholder that has invested well in the see round.
“We looked at it as part of the overall weight-loss and health and nutrition industry,” Hicks said, adding that those who need to be on gluten-free diets are similarly part of the target market.
While “cleansing” programs do not have breakout numbers as of yet, the weight-loss industry it is set in has no shortage of fad-surges that carry no weight to them. That means an almost guaranteed success opportunity for Urban Remedy if it can catch on.
Urban Remedy will have to breakthrough a market that already exists with company like BluePrint Cleanse. Which could prove to be difficult, but is something the owner is not likely to shy away from.
