(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 28, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- With spring off to a start, polls are now showing some Canadians are packing their bags for a good ole-fashion getaway.
A CIBC poll that was released on Thursday showed that 12% of Canadians plan on taking a vacation within March. Just over 40% of those travelers say that they will take a trip somewhere within Canada, while 36% say they will head to the United States for their getaway.
"March is a special time of year for Canadians to take a break from school and work and enjoy some time with their families," says Cheryl Longo, executive vice president of CIBC Card Products.
She continued by stating, "Finding the time and money for family vacations can sometimes be a challenge, and when Canadians do get away they want to enjoy the experience and know they planned well, budgeted well and are protected in the event of the unexpected.”
According to the poll, the average Canadian who is set for vacation plans to spend around $2665 on their March trip. Those in the Manitoba and Saskatchewan areas will be handing over the most money on average, as they plan to spend nearly $3,200. Those in the Atlantic provinces state they plan to spend the least on average, with only $1,500 set to move.
Albertans may not be the most extravagant spenders, but they are most likely to travel, as 17% of residents state they will travel in March. Those in the B.C. Area are almost as likely to travel, with 16% of residents stating that they plan to make a trip.
Those within the Atlantic Canada region are the least likely to travel, as less than one in 20 is considering a spring getaway.
