(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 17, 2013 ) San Clemente, CA -- According to a new survey, modern grooms are now appearing to be as hands-on about wedding plans as the brides-to-be have been in the past. Men are now seen to even be helping with such female-planning mainstays as the flowers, according to the newest surveys.
Researchers found that today's man is ever-more involved in the special day, and that is helping shatter the stereotype of the 'let me know what time it is and I'll be there' male prototype that has held up for so long.
Over half of the men who were polled in the most recent survey stated that they want final say in the date of the big day, while 56% stated they chose the venue.
One in every 20 men have said they have helped or controlled the floral arrangements, while nearly a third helped decide on the cake.
Other jobs that the men appear to be taking on is organizing the bad, suits for their best men, and usher services.
Over 33% of men put themselves in charge of haggling over the suppliers' prices, according to the study by Austin Reed Wedding Hire-Wear noted.
A spokesperson stated 'It makes sense for the bride and groom to take tackle things as a team. This research shows most couples tackle the arrangements for the big day jointly.”
The spokesperson added: “There has always been an assumption that it's brides who call the shots regarding the big day, but due to the huge cost of weddings it now makes sense that the responsibility is shared. Naturally there are going to be elements of any wedding which are more suited to the bride or groom. But it is important that there is room for the groom to stand out on his big day too.”
The survey found that Grandparents also make contributions to the tune of 5% from the groom's side and 10% from the bride's side. In nearly 60% of all couples, the grooms were as much a part of the hands-on process when it came to wedding planning. Over 50% of those men stated they take as much time to plan now, mostly due to the sheer scales of weddings and cost of modern 'special day' affairs.
