However, a new study seems to give evidence that might alter that notion.
Researchers at the Bowling Green University have noted that senior citizens are now the fastest-growing group utilizing various online dating sites. “They all want somebody that’s emotionally and financially stable,” said Brianna Luscomb, the owner of Pearl District Matchmaker.
Luscomb makes connections through interviews, videos, and even local events, but she is also aware that many of her clients are seeking individuals who have the same qualities as those who are searching for companions online.
“What I hear most often in this age group, is that they’re looking for someone active,” explained Luscomb. “Many want to travel with someone.”
New research out of Ohio shows that senior surfers are marketing themselves in a very different way than younger singles. Many utilize realistic photos and utilize phrases such as “young at heart” to promote themselves.
“I think you’re more honest when you come into your later years, because you’ve accomplished what you’re going to and what you haven’t, you’ve made peace with,” remarked senior Charlotte Robinson who met her husband at Milwaukee's Rose Villa retirement community.
All told, seniors looking for love online do not look to waste much time like their younger counterparts. They tend to enter into the process with the intent of finding a match quickly. Luckily for these advanced singles, there are quite a few options at their disposal. Mature Singles Only, Single and Over 50, and Dating for Seniors are just three of the growing number of singles sites that cater the to ever-growing niche.
With the number of baby-boomers now reaching their primed mature ages, the market is likely to continue growing for mature singles who want to find someone to spend quality time with.
