(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 08, 2013 ) PHOENIX, Ariz. - Last month, the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the state Department of Transportation joined forces to conduct roadside inspections of commercial trucks. In total, the government agencies inspected 826 commercial trucks.
Over two days, the government agencies inspected commercial vehicles on I-10 between the Arizona-New Mexico border and the Maricopa-Pinal county line. The agencies found that many of the truck drivers were violating federal laws. Phillips Law Group wants Arizona residents to be aware that numerous truck drivers are violating the law and putting other motorists in harmÂ’s way.
The DPS found that 109 truck drivers were in violation of driving hours and these drivers were taken off of the road. While 44 trucks were taken off of the road for safe loading and equipment violations. Some of the equipment violations included issues with the brakes, lamps, steering, suspension, tires and wheels.
The government has implemented laws regarding how much weight commercial vehicles can carry, the number of hours drivers can be on the road and how often equipment has to be inspected to protect the publicÂ’s safety. Fatigued drivers, improperly loaded trucks and faulty equipment can result in a truck accident.
