(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 07, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Both Google and Facebook have been held up as the most trusted internet brands in a recent survey by Trust Research Advisory.
The Brand Trust Report, India Study for 2013 expressed research that while Google is still India's most trusted internet brand for the third straight year, Facebook was a close second by a ever-closing gap. This, while Facebook is involved in a class-action lawsuit for using individuals identity, and selling information to third-party companies.
This year's research had 16 cities generating 19,000 unique brands across 211 categories included. The research highlighted the advent of online shopping brands and current trend.
N. Chandramouli, who serves as chief executive officer for the Trust Research Advisory stated that online shopping category will likely experience an accelerated growth over the next two years.
"With most of the new brands entering the most trusted list this year being from online shopping or internet services, there will be no stopping this sub-category from seeing accelerated growth over the next 12 months," he said.
Chandramouli stated that online brands rely heavily on trust as a factor that makes or breaks the company, as there is no physical interaction.
An analysis of the All India Most Trusted ranks showed that Google fell 13 ranks and Facebook gained 17 which bridged the gap that existed. Yahoo is still the third Most Trusted Internet brand, despite falling to 62 in the ranking. Google's Orkut was fourth even while its daily visits from India sharply fell.
Ebay was India's fifth Most Trusted Internet brand followed closely by BTI. All of the top six repeated in the identical order from 2012.
