The crime is not only shocking and time-consuming, but also pricey, according to HidePad.com. Victims are likely to spend up to $14,340 to deal with the cases. The average comes out to be somewhere near $1,000 in case-related costs. The ramifications move beyond cost-of-adjustment however, as many are unable to receive loans after they have been victimized.
According to HidePad.com's infographic, seven-of-10 victims have trouble actually removing the negative effects of the theft (including some never being able too); while 40% have to deal with severe amounts of stress as a result of the theft.
While nearly 90% of individuals feel anger to the level of rage at the situation, 45% have trouble removing the denial of the actual incident. Nearly half of all victims find it hard to trust anyone following the event, when it comes to accessing information.
