Ford Named #1 Searched Automaker Brand in 2016 by Captify Research

(CityRegions.Com, March 29, 2017 ) Las Vegas, NV -- Ford ranks as the most-searched automaker on the web for 2016. Finding shows “Americans love their Fords,” Ford Country GM says.



American consumers searched for Ford vehicles more than those made by any other U.S. or foreign vehicle manufacturer in 2016, and their searches covered the entire Ford lineup of vehicle types.



Researchers at Captify, an advertising technology company specializing in search intelligence, analyzed more than 22 billion consumer searches to determine what topics of interest were drawing consumers to the search engines, and primarily Google.



They found Ford was the most frequently searched car brand – most often by men but also by women between the ages of 18 and 24. Moreover, trucks, sports cars and family cars were the highest-searched vehicle types, accounting for a full 60 percent of the search volume. Rounding out the top five searches were hybrids and SUVs.



Brad Cambridge, general manager of Ford Country in Las Vegas, said the findings reinforce a lesson he learned a long time ago.



“Americans sure do love their Fords,” he said. “With our lineup, there’s something for everybody – from our world-renowned trucks to our roomy and sporty SUVs. People wouldn’t be searching online if they didn’t know this to be true.”



Ford leaves competitors in rear-view mirror



Of course, consumers searched for other vehicles, too – though none matching the search demand for Ford vehicles. Trailing far behind in consumer searches were: Audi, Honda, BMW, Tesla, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Dodge and Nissan.



Meanwhile, more than two-thirds of consumers searched for new vehicles, while the remainder searched for pre-owned vehicles. This finding, too, bears out Cambridge’s day-to-day experience at Ford Country – the leading Ford dealership in the state of Nevada.



“Even if they know they can’t afford it, it’s hard for most consumers to resist looking at a new Ford vehicle at our dealership,” he said. “With our huge inventory of pre-owned vehicles and our knowledge of those vehicles as trade-ins from previous customers, we always succeed at putting customers in a choice Ford vehicle.”



Shoppers can depend on Ford Country's website

The sheer volume of online consumer searches for vehicles underscores another reality for Cambridge: most shoppers today begin their search for a vehicle online. After they narrow their choices – and it’s usually plural, not singular – they visit Ford Country with a list in hand, ready to ask questions of sales reps, inspect the vehicles in person and take their top two or three choices for a test drive.



For shoppers, it’s a time-efficient method of shopping for vehicles. For Ford Country, it’s a helpful reminder to keep the dealership website up-to-date at all times so that shoppers know exactly which vehicles the dealership has to offer day to day, Cambridge said.
